Book Chat with Grinnell College Museum Studies Students

Mike Murawski speaking with Grinnell College Museum Studies students.

On Thursday, February 1, co-creator Mike Murawski took some time out of his day to meet with Museum Studies students at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, over zoom.

Their professor, Susan Baley, who serves as the Grinnell College Museum of Art, had assigned Mike’s book, Museums as Agents of Change, as one of the course readings.

Mike enjoys every opportunity to connect with students about his book and the museum field, and this visit was no different.

The students asked lots of great questions about the state of the field right now, and the challenges museums professionals face when they embrace their role as a “changemaker” within their given institution.

Mike also took some time to share his own career trajectory, which has included work in midwestern museums like the Saint Louis Art Museum and the Mildred Lane Kemper Museum, both in St Louis, which are within a day’s drive of Grinnell.

Mike is always happy to connect with classes who are using his book in their course curriculum, or who are interested in learning more about the museum profession more generally.

You can use our work with us form or email Mike Murawski at murawski27@gmail.com to inquire.
