About Us

We are Bryna Campbell and Mike Murawski, creatives and educators with a passion for access, learning, and connection.

Since launching what is now called "Art Nature Place” in 2017, we’ve been working together to create deeper connections to the world around us and make meaningful change happen within museums and nature nonprofits — institutions that play key roles in shaping public life.

Our work includes developing strategies for meaningful institutional change work, human-centered practices, and community partnership support.

We also work with agencies, non-profits, schools, and museums on creative partnerships and projects - bringing together place-based thinking, creative illustration, and a love of learning to make awesome things happen.

Art Nature Place has changed a lot over the years. It began as “Super Nature Adventures” in 2017, with a focus on creating environmental education materials for youth and families in the Portland, Oregon, area. We began working with clients on public projects in 2019, and began our museum consulting work in 2020. In Fall 2023, we changed our name officially to Art Nature Place.

More about us…

Bryna Campbell has a PhD in Art History and American Culture Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, with a focus on place-based art practices and art activism. She also has over five years of teaching experience as a college instructor. The classes she has taught include “Art, Nature, and Power in American Art and Visual Culture.” During her career, she has written, presented, and taught extensively on nature- and place-based art production. When not at Super Nature Adventures, you’ll find her hiking with her family somewhere in Pacific Northwest, out in the garden, cooking, or digging into her favorite book.

Mike Murawski has a PhD in Education and Arts Learning from American University, and over 15 years of experience working in museum education and leadership positions. He is the author of Museums as Agents of Change: A Guide to Becoming a Change Maker (2021). He is also the founding author and editor of ArtMuseumTeaching.com, and co-producer of the Museums Are Not Neutral global advocacy campaign. When not working at Super Nature Adventures, you’ll find him hiking with his family, trail running, or engaging with the challenges museum face through his work as an independent consultant.
