“The Oaks We Share” Guide

Introducing the “The Oaks We Share: Finding Oregon White Oaks in Washington County,” an educational guide created for Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District in association with the Five Oaks Museum.

The guide was created as an entry point to learning about Oregon White Oaks in Washington County, Oregon, their common habitats, and where and how to find them. The guide was also created in Spanish.

Some key design and educational features of the Oaks We Share Guide include:

  • Basic identification information for those unfamiliar with the tree species

  • Information about two common types of white oak habitats - savannah and woodland

  • Twelve different public locations in Washington County where white oaks can be found

  • A land acknowledgement and cultural information about the Kalapuya people, stewards of this land

  • Prompts and reflection questions about stewardship, land management practices, and the impact of urban development on white oaks.

This guide is free to the public. You can contact one of the partners involved to learn about more about how to get your guide, or find it online in both English and Spanish as a PDF at this page.
