Our trail packet for Scouters Mountain is our ode to the mighty mushroom! In the rainy season, the park's majestic 100-year old forest springs to life with all kinds of fungi, as well as ferns, spiders, snails, and slugs.
There's another reason the park is a special place for a family adventure. The park is decorated with five benches that each have artistic decorations inspired by nature.
The adventure map follows the main 1.3 mile nature loop to a stunning view of Mount Hood, then around the mountain for lots of forest exploration. Scavenger stickers for such forest life as chipmunks, fungi, snails, and slugs make the adventure extra fun.
The Field Guide extends the adventure with activities about nature in the rainy season, with a special focus on mushrooms, spiders, and the forest floor. An activity encouraging kids to imagine their own nature-inspired art rounds out the Field Guide.
The result of the packet is a memorable autumn season adventure!
