Frequently Asked Questions
What subscription packages do you offer?
We offer monthly, 6-month, and 1-year subscriptions for families living or traveling to the Portland, Oregon area. Subscriptions are recurring and you can cancel at any time. You'll receive a 3-day notice of your next payment, so there's no need to worry about remembering to cancel. Packets are delivered 11 months of the year (no January packet). The 1-year subscription is the best deal!
What benefits do you receive with a subscription?
Subscribers get a host of benefits that include an automatic packet delivery to your door, 20% off any special edition seasonal packet or older trail packet, free group hikes, and exclusive access to limited edition material. For more read our subscription page.
Can I buy your packets on their own?
YES! Most of our older trail packets are available at our online store. However, a few of our trail packets are only available exclusively to subscribers.
How much is shipping?
Starting in Spring 2018, all shipping is FREE and built into the cost of your order. This applies to both subscriptions and individual purchases.
When are subscriptions and individual shipped?
We ship the subscription packets during the first full week of each month. Packets generally arrive sometime between the 7th-15th.
Individual packet purchases are shipped within 3 days of purchase and arrive anywhere between 3-8 business days.
What is the recommended age range for Super Nature Adventure packets?
Generally speaking, we have made our products with kids ages 4-10 in mind. However, because every child has a different level of hiking expertise and a different set of, we don’t specify an age for our subscriptions.
How are Super Nature Adventures packets created?
We take the process of creating each month's adventure very seriously. Each packet includes a period of research, scouting alone and with kids, and testing with a kid. The materials for each packet are thoroughly researched by Bryna Campbell and Mike Murawski, Portland area parents who also happen to have PhDs with a background in the arts and education. All the material is hand-illustrated by Mike Murawski, whose other drawings can be found on Instagram at @rootsdesignpnw. You can learn more about why we started Super Nature Adventures by clicking on Our Story.
What items are included in a subscription packet?
We carefully select every item to insure a fun and rewarding hands-on learning experience. Packets include: a waterproof Adventure Map with vinyl scavenger stickers for exploring the trail in detail, a 16-page Field Guide filled with fun activities and information related to the trail to extend learning and support creativity, a fun "Code of the Trail" for your budding Super Nature Hero with guidelines for hiking ethics, a Nature Hero Sticker, and a letter for parents with lots of useful tips & info about the trail.
Can I use Super Nature Adventures Maps in the rainy season?
Absolutely! Our Adventure Maps are made with Rite in the Rain waterproof paper, and our stickers are made of waterproof vinyl, so that you can take them out in any weather.
Do you send your subscriptions in winter too?
You bet! There's so much to see in the winter habitats in Portland. However, because December can be especially hectic for many families, instead of a regular monthly packet, subscribers get a special Dec-Jan packet that covers both months.
If I am a subscriber, do I have to use the adventure packet on the month that I receive it?
We make our packet maps waterproof for a reason. We know that life is busy for families, and that sometimes you can't get outside when you originally plan. All our packets can be used year round.
The Field Guides also include material that can be done at home, whether or not your family has time to hike right away. Sometimes, kids also enjoy coloring on the maps before they use them in ways that allow them to use their imagination.
Why do you only offer subscriptions for the Portland area?
As Portlanders, we want to offer busy families who might not be able to travel beyond the metropolitan area and opportunity to explore nature more closely with their kids. Portland, Vancouver, WA, and the other neighboring suburbs offer an amazing array of parks for nature exploration at any time of year. As we grow, we plan to expand to other areas in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Do you offer subscriptions for anywhere else in the Pacific Northwest?
Not yet... stay tuned!
What payment system do you use?
We use Stripe for subscriptions and Square for individual purchases, established, trusted third parties, which accepts all major credit cards.
